Two MDC-related bill pass
We are at the midway point in this legislative session. Representative Kirk Wagoner's HB 387 has passed the House and has been transmitted to the Senate. This legislation would keep MDC open for upon to two more years and create an Intensive Behavior Center (IBC) (although the legislation doesn't not require it be in Boulder).
Senate Bill 271, sponsored by Senator Fred Thomas, would also keep MDC open for two more years, would allow accepting new patients until December, 2018, but does not reference a facility of last resort such as the IBC or the current ASU. This legislation caps the number of persons at MDC at 26.
For current and more detailed information on any legislation including a copy of the bill and the time of the hearing, go to: http://laws.leg.mt.gov/legprd/LAW0200W$.Startup
Thanks.
